How to Use the Color Monarch Project Tool

Starting any design project is an exciting and nerve-wracking experience, especially if there’s a big decision like choosing a paint color involved. There are so many colors to choose from, and painting a room is a lot of work! It can be a high-stress decision because you definitively want to get it right on the first shot.

Color Monarch’s system can help you pick the right color the first time around.

Using our online tool, you can quickly and easily identify your room’s color theme, choose from a variety of paint options based on your actual space, and receive the samples you need to make an informed decision. And best of all? You can do it right from your phone in four easy steps.

Here’s how you do it.

Step 1: Take a photo of your space and upload it.

Every project starts with a photograph of the space you’re painting, so take a shot that includes elements from the room such as your bedding, any accent objects, curtains, or other elements that will be in the finished room and contribute the re-painted room’s overall feel. Make sure the space is lit well and as clean as you can make it. This will help with choosing the right color profile.

Step 2: Choose a focal point in your room

After you upload it into Color Monarch’s system, choose from the different points around the room to select the focal point. You can also tap & drag a region in your room to select objects that are not pre-identified.

Whatever area of focus you select as the most important will give you your focal colors. Color Monarch will suggest a handful of matching wall colors to coordinate with that focal point.

When choosing your focal point, we suggest basing this on the objects that are the non-negotiables, with non-neutral colors and those your would like to keep in the room. Often, this is the accent furnitures, window treatments or area rugs. A fantastic art piece you can’t live without, is also a great choice of focal point to base your décor around it.

Step 3: Visualize the recommended colors

Based on the main colors in your focal point, three categories of wall colors are recommended: bold, traditional and modern. You can now use the visualizer to "test" the paint colors on your wall.

Bold color statement on the wall creates contrast & drama.

Step 4: Get your free paint chips in the mail

Once you pick the color you like, now all you have to do is check out and receive your free paint chips in the mail! You will receive different shades of 8"x8" paint chips for the colors you pick.

Hold your paint chips up and see how you feel about them. Try them in different lights and against the furniture in your room. Seek a second opinion. And maybe a third.

With Color Monarch, you can be confident that the wall color you choose will match the undertones and overall color palette of your existing space. Then all you have to do is go pick up the paint you want and get cracking!

Order your free paint samples and test them against your wall and fixtures before investing in the actual paint.
